Yes, Merineo is designed and manufactured in Australia! We also use local suppliers wherever possible, taking us pretty much all over Melbourne -
We go to Bayswater for our eco-friendly box packaging, Tullamarine for the printing of our education brochures, Mount Waverley for our gorgeous grosgrain ribbon, Oakleigh for our tissue paper.
To produce our garment, we use beautiful 17.5 micron superfine merino wool knitted in Italy - noting more than 90% of the world's finest apparel wool is grown in Australia! We source our thread and zippers from an amazing supplier who has been in Richmond since the year dot. We go deep into the northern suburbs of Melbourne to get our merino wool binding fabric cut and made into binding.
For our labels, we drive to Hawthorn, and to get our embroidery done for our special wholesale customers, well that is a 50 kilometre drive.
Firstly, the cool mesh is a lighter weight fabric weighing approximately 195 gsm (grams per square metre) and the midweight is heavier at approximately 265 gsm.
Secondly, the fabric construction of the cool mesh is highly breathable, whereas the midweight is a double interlock construction.
Although both fabrics are suitable for all seasons, due to the lighter weight and fabric constructions of the cool mesh, it is more suitable for warmer climates.
